Brief Info

Lucy is a Ghanaian. She had her first degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana and a postgraduate from the Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany. She is agricultural and environmental economist.

She is easy going and believes in fairness, peace and justice. She believes study should be fun and as such organises special social programmes for students and lecturers of the Department.

She is involved in promotion of Science, Mathematics and Technology at the basic levels with special focus on girls and natural resources. To promote Science, Mathematics and Technology she has established a project “Girls in Science, Mathematics and Technology – GSMAT” which is a mentoring programme at the basic and secondary school levels. She works with the female students of the Faculty of Forest Resources Technology to execute the various activities under the project.

Major Responsibilities

As a lecture my core responsibilities are teaching, research and service to the community. As the Head of the Department of Ecotourism and Forest Recreation, my responsibilities include:

  • To organise teaching programmes, maintain acceptable standard of teaching and ensure that adequate facilities are available for research in the various discipline within the Department.
  • Be responsible for the administration of the department, appointment and promotion of staff and discipline
  • Be responsible for recommending to the Faculty Board the development of syllabuses and courses as well as promotion of research in the Department. This is done in consultation with members of the Department.
  • To liaise with other departments, Faculties, Colleges, Institutions both nationally and internationally for promotion and development of the department.

 Research Interests

Lucy is agricultural and natural resource economist with special focus on gender and socio-economic issues within natural resource and environmental management. Central to her research and study are critical examinations of contemporary environmental management paradigms.
